Application Deadlines

With our rolling admissions process, we offer three start dates for enrollment during the year – January, May and September. For the students that are citizens of the United States and Canada, applications should be submitted no later than 2 months before the desired start date. Students that are looking to transfer from another medical school into our clinical science program, we offer clinical rotations all throughout the year, so applications can be submitted at any time during the year and begin their education with us at any time during the year.

Generally, students holding a valid passport may enter Curaçao without a written permit and remain on the island for a period of up to 90 days. However, several nationalities must present a Visa as part of the entry requirements. On the website, www.curacao.com, you’ll find a complete list of nationalities that don’t need a visa. If your country is not on this list, then you will need a Visa to travel to Curaçao.In order to have adequate time to obtain the Visa, for students whose nationalities are not found in the above listing, students should submit their application no later than 3 months before their desired start date.

Submitting your application is the first step to your medical career. We are here to support, answer any questions and guide you through the process.

  • AUSOM application form

  • Personal Statement

    • Can be filled out on the online application, or submitted separatly.  Length should be no less than one page, and no more than two pages.
    • Tell us your personal journey in life that has led you to pursuing a career in medicine.  We want to know your story, accomplishments or any hardships you may have faced.  The personal statement is a way for us to get to know you better
    • Must include the applicant’s full name.

  • Résumé or Curriculum Vitae

  • Official Transcripts

    • Official transcript(s) from each college/university or professional school you have attended.  Unofficial transcripts (student-issued copies) may suffice and will begin the review process, pending official transcripts.
    • Official transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution to AUSOM’s Ohio office.
  • Two letters of recommendation

    • At least one must be an academic letter of recommendation. This letter must be from a professor who has taught the applicant and is acquainted with the applicant’s academic ability.
    • The “Professional Letter” may be from a non-science professor or an employer, medical colleague, or another professional who can attest to the applicant’s character, academic, or work abilities.
  • Application fee of US $50.00

  • Digital photo

Other Application Requirements:

  • Candidates who have taken MD courses at an allopathic or osteopathic school will be required to submit a “Dean’s Letter” in addition to transcripts from those institutions.
  • MCAT scores are not required.

  • All students are required to submit a criminal background check (Police Clearance Certificate) prior to starting at AUSOM.
