Students Spotted Being AUSOM: Tejuss Kakarla Saves the Day!
We here at Avalon University School of Medicine are extremely proud of our students and enjoy spreading the news of their efforts and accomplishments. The latest accomplishment within the Avalon University Community comes from our clinical student, Tejuss Kakarla.
Upon leaving the hospital after completing his ICM rotation, Tejuss stumbled upon a couple in the parking lot exclaiming an elderly man had fallen and was not responsive. Tejuss quickly sprang into action and began to assess the situation. He discovered the unconscious man was profusely bleeding from the head and required immediate medical attention. After directing the couple to seek additional assistance from within the hospital, Tejuss looked for something to help stop the bleeding. With limited options in a parking lot, Tejuss removed his scrub top and used it to apply pressure to the wound.
The man regained consciousness after a few minutes but was having difficulty with remembering what had occurred. Tejuss then took the time to calm the man and assure him additional medical attention was on the way. When additional help arrived they were able to wrap the wound and transport the man to the emergency room for further treatment.
Tejuss’ quick thinking and willingness to help saved a man’s life that day. We are incredibly proud of you, Tejuss! Well done!
