Faculty and students at Avalon University School of Medicine are proud to celebrate holidays from a variety of countries and cultures. As a leading medical university, we strive to not only provide our students with a medical education, but an increased knowledge of cultural events and histories as well. On Monday, January 16, 2023, Martin Luther King Jr. Day was celebrated in several countries across the globe.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a prominent minister and activist, was a noteworthy individual and one of the most pronounced leaders during the civil rights movement. His empowered speeches, such as the famous “I Have a Dream” speech, provided guidance and inspiration to members of the African American community as they struggled for justice and equality. Dr. King was passionate about advocating for the oppressed and working class in addition to his fight for racial equality.

Avalon University’s administration and faculty would like to extend a post-mortem “Thank you” to Dr. King for his tireless efforts throughout the civil rights movement. We are proud to support Dr. King’s legacy as we advocate for diversity in the field of Medicine and help our students of all ethnicities and cultures reach their full potential as successful practicing physicians.
