Avalon University & CIMT College Host Seminar on Practicing Medicine in the USA

On November 22, 2025, Avalon University School of Medicine and CIMT College successfully hosted a hybrid seminar titled ‘Exploring Pathways to a Medical Career in the United States’ specifically designed for Canadian high school and college graduates. With growing barriers to medical school admission in Canada, more and more Canadian students are choosing accredited Caribbean medical schools like Avalon University to fast-track their dream of practicing medicine in the USA or Canada. The event covered MD program details, U.S. clinical rotations, residency matching, and licensure pathways (USMLE + MCCQE).

Originally planned as an in-person event, the session was thoughtfully converted to a hybrid format at the initiative of Dr. Shokat Fatteh, Chancellor of Avalon University. The decision paid off beautifully, with excellent attendance both at CIMT College and online, bringing together aspiring medical students from across Canada and beyond.

The seminar featured insightful presentations and an interactive Q&A led by:

  • Dr. Shokat Fatteh – Chancellor, Avalon University School of Medicine
  • Dr. Samir Fatteh – President, Avalon University School of Medicine

Participants – in-person and virtual – asked thoughtful questions about the MD program, U.S. clinical rotations, licensure pathways, and the unique advantages of studying at Avalon University. The lively exchange provided prospective students with clear and detailed guidance for their medical education journey.

The virtual platform was smoothly managed by Dr. Amin Fateh, Chief IT Officer and Chief Operating Officer, ensuring a seamless experience for all online attendees.

Avalon University extends its gratitude to Mr. Saurabh Pradhan and the entire CIMT College team, as well as our Canada student recruitment representative, Mr. Mohsin Khimji, for their excellent coordination.
