Deferral Policy

At Avalon University School of Medicine, we understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and students may need to delay their enrollment. We offer a one-time deferral option for accepted students who require additional time before beginning their studies.

Eligibility

Deferrals are available to accepted students who have paid the initial seat deposit and are in good standing with the admissions office.

Deferral Request Process

  • All deferral requests must be submitted in writing to the Office of Admissions.
  • Requests must include a brief explanation and the intended enrollment term.
  • Approval is granted on a case-by-case basis.

Deferral Deposit

  • A non-refundable deferral deposit of $500 is required to secure a future seat.
  • This deposit is applied toward the total enrollment deposit and must be paid within 14 days of receiving deferral approval.
  • If the deposit is not received within the 14-day window, the original acceptance may be withdrawn, and the seat may be offered to another qualified applicant.

Length of Deferral

  • Deferrals may be granted for up to one academic year (two consecutive semesters) from the original start date.
  • Students must confirm their return term with the Office of Admissions no later than 60 days prior to the desired enrollment date.

Reapplying After Lapsed Deferral

If a student does not return within the approved deferral period, their seat will be forfeited. To be considered again for admission, the student must submit a new application and will be evaluated as part of a new admissions cycle.
