ECFMG has issued a policy change that will greatly affect students who are enrolled at non-accredited medical schools. ECFMG states that medical students who are looking to apply for residency and have not taken the USMLE Step 2 CS exam will have to find an alternative pathway. This includes transferring to an accredited medical school. For more information, click here.
Avalon University School of Medicine (AUSOM) is an accredited medical school accepting transfer students to the clinical science program. AUSOM is accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP), and the Accreditation Commission of Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). This means AUSOM students and graduates are permitted to sit for USMLE licensing exams and obtain residency placement in the United States and Canada.
Benefits of Avalon University’s Clinical Program:
- We have established hospital affiliations with ACGME teaching hospitals.
- Typically, all 72 weeks of clinical rotations can be done at one of the three locations to save time, money, and travel.
- Current AUSOM students will be credited $1,000 towards their tuition for each Student referral into the MD program’s clinical portion.
- We have three primary locations for our clinical rotations in the United States: Beckley, West Virginia – Chicago, Illinois – and Phoenix, Arizona.
AUSOM reviews each transfer applicant individually. Please click here for more information on applying to Avalon University School of Medicine.
