Honoring the Life and Impact of Dr. Stephine Kramer

A Pillar of Education and Healing

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected and untimely passing of our esteemed preceptor, mentor, and friend of Avalon, Dr. Stephine Kramer. Dr. Kramer’s departure leaves a heavy void as she was not only a remarkable mentor but also a cherished member of our community. Her commitment to education, unwavering encouragement, and profound expertise have left an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to learn under her guidance.

Beyond the conventional role of an educator, Dr. Kramer transcended traditional boundaries, seamlessly blending her knowledge with compassion to foster an environment that nurtured both professional advancement and personal growth. Many students can attribute their success to her guidance, and her legacy will continue to inspire them in their journeys.

Until her recent passing, Dr. Kramer held the role of Chief of the Medical Staff at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital. A dynamic and highly skilled member of our caregiving team, she was a staunch advocate for compassionate, top-tier patient care. Her dedication spanned nearly two decades, starting when she moved to Arizona in 2004 and established East Valley Women’s Medical Group, which later became Steward Medical Group Women’s Health Associates. Her vision was to offer accessible, high-quality healthcare to women within a warm and nurturing setting.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Kramer also held a position on the medical staff at Mountain Vista Medical Center. Her medical journey began at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she earned her degree, and continued through her residency at the Martin Luther King/Charles Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Her calling became evident when she participated in her initial delivery as a medical student. Throughout her career, Dr. Kramer dedicated herself to patients ranging from adolescence to end of life. Her patients admired her gentle and considerate approach, which made them feel genuinely cared for.
