And the Award Goes To…
The Mission Statement of Avalon University School of Medicine states that Avalon:
- … works to prepare competent physicians to serve communities locally and around the world.
- …is committed to patient safety and public health.
- …maintains highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior.
Avalon University faculty and staff work hard to uphold these standards and teach them to our students. The students learn first-hand how important values such as these are through direct instruction from our qualified basic science instructors and passionate clinical preceptors.
Ms. Sarah Pack, MD5 Semester Coordinator
During clinical rotations, Avalon students can implement what they have learned through real-world clinical experience. Avalon students are required to complete 72-weeks of clinical rotations at one of Avalon’s ACGME approved, affiliated hospitals in Chicago (IL), Phoenix (AZ), or Beckley (WV).
Because Avalon University feels the experience gained in the clinical portion of the program is of utmost importance, our Administrative Office hosted an in-office competition. The goal was to see which department could introduce the highest number of new clinical students to this one-of-a-kind experience by the end of 2022. The contestants were the Avalon Admissions Department and Avalon’s MD5 Semester Coordinator.
On Wednesday, December 7, 2022, Dr. Lanny Wilson, Clinical Dean, called a close to the contest and the winner was announced.
We are happy to announce that Ms. Sarah Pack, MD5 Semester Coordinator, won the competition with a total of 26 (and counting) students introduced to their new Clinical Coordinators. The Admissions Team put up a good fight but ended the contest with a total of 14 new clinical students for the year.
