I would like to just comment on a couple points about my time spent with Avalon University school of Medicine. Firstly we have the Island of Curacao, which was a lovely place to live, visit and study. The staff and Professors on the Island are among the most dedicated teachers I have had the pleasure of coming across. They are always easily accessible and always welcome to questions from the students. The curriculum that is being taught is more than sufficient to help a student pass their USMLE step examinations.
I am sure that all of you have heard as I have that Caribbean Medical schools are not on the same Level as American medical schools, I am glad to say that this is not the case with our school. However going through our program does not guarantee top test scores or even passing for that matter. The success of the individual is based on how hard that individual works toward his/her goal. This is true whether you are a student of an American or Caribbean Medical school. When it comes to the topic of your upcoming USMLE preparation I found that the school had adequately prepared me for what was to come. In terms of material I would personally recommend the First Aid and Kaplan USMLE books the school provides you at the start of your 5th semester with concurrent use of USMLE World QBank. For USMLE step 2 CK and step 3 Master the boards supplemented with USMLE World QBank is perfect. Step 2 CS is best prepared for with the First Aid for CS.
“After you Leave the Island and start clinical rotations you will find that our school is one of the best in getting a student their rotations in one location, which after going through the process is in itself one of the best aspects you will come to love in the end.”
Overall I feel that I have made the right choice in putting my confidence in Avalon University School of Medicine and look forward to keeping a close relationship with the school in the future.”
