All applicants applying for the 4-Year MD Program at Avalon University School of Medicine must be fluent in English and meet the mandatory prerequisites. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or have completed a minimum of 90 premedical undergraduate credit hours from a regionally accredited institution, with all prerequisite courses completed with a passing grade. The Admissions Committee evaluates each applicant using a 360° holistic approach, considering their complete academic history, including but not limited to GPA and MCAT scores, personal traits, life experiences, and overall readiness for medical training.

As mentioned above, the mandatory prerequisite courses include the following:

  • General Biology or Life Sciences- Two semesters or one year of study
  • General/Inorganic Chemistry- Two semesters or one year of study
  • Biochemistry/Organic Chemistry- Two semesters or one year of study
  • Physics- Two semesters or one year of study
  • English- Two semesters or one year of study
  • Precalculus/Calculus- One semester
  • Background in Humanities or Social Sciences- One semester

In addition to the above coursework, the following documents are required for the application process:

  • Personal statement
  • Official transcripts from the previous academic institutions
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Resume/CV 

** Applicants may choose to submit MCAT scores as an optional part of the review process. A strong MCAT score may strengthen an applicant’s profile and may also qualify them for MCAT scholarships.

  • To apply for the 5-Year PreMed/MD Program, an applicant is required to have a high school/secondary school diploma. If you have not completed high school/secondary school, you should be within six months of graduating from your high school/secondary school before beginning the application.
  • To apply for the 6-Year BS/MD Program, an applicant is required to have a high school/secondary school diploma. If you have not completed high school/secondary school, you should be within six months of graduating from your high school/secondary school before beginning the application.
  • To apply as a transfer student from another medical school, if the applicant is applying from an international medical school, that school should be listed on the World Directory of Medical Schools.
