Eligibility Guidelines
Open to newly accepted students entering MD1 as well as transfer students. Scholarships will be pro-rated based on entry level — contact bursar@avalonu.org for pro-rated amounts.
Students must maintain Good Academic Standing throughout the MD Program to continue receiving the scholarship.
A student placed on academic probation — due to failure of any course in a given semester — will no longer be considered in Good Academic Standing and may forfeit future scholarship disbursements.

Important — Combined Scholarship Rule: Students eligible for both the Preclinical Science Scholarship and the MCAT Scholarship may only receive one. The scholarship with the higher amount will be granted.

Basic Science (Preclinical) Scholarships
Available to newly accepted students beginning the first semester of the 4-Year MD Program and to transfer students entering the Preclinical Science phase (MD1–MD4). Students completing Avalon's Bachelor of Science program in Curaçao are also eligible. GPA is assessed cumulatively from college/university and prior medical school (for transfers).

Guidelines

Transfer students entering Preclinical Sciences (MD1–MD4) are eligible. The scholarship amount will be prorated based on the "per semester" value for the entering semester and continues for up to ten semesters.
Students must maintain the GPA requirement to continue receiving the award. If GPA drops, the student becomes eligible for the next lower scholarship tier.
Premedical Program Scholarships
Available to newly accepted students enrolling in or transferring into the Premedical Program. Students receiving advanced standing are eligible — scholarship amounts are prorated from the entry semester through the remaining duration of the Premedical program.

How it works
Pay in Caribbean Guilders (XCG)
The tuition amount charged in US dollars is instead paid in Caribbean Guilders (XCG) at the same numeric value — effectively a significant local currency discount.

Example: The Premedical Program costs $6,195 USD per semester. With this scholarship, you pay 6,195 XCG instead — a substantial saving given the exchange rate.
