Dr. Jonathan Lambo

M.D, M.Sc., DTM&H (RCPLond)

Dr. Jonathan Lambo began his academic career by earning his BSc in Biology and MSc in Immunology. Thereafter Dr. Lambo obtained his MD from the University of Vienna Medical
School where he received research training in Immunology. He later trained as a family physician and practiced for a short time. He then returned to the United Kingdom to train
in tropical medicine and infectious diseases where he earned his Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene.

Dr. Lambo worked in Sudan and Pakistan as a Medical Officer for UNICEF and the World Health Organization, directing public health programs and training doctors in public health surveillance. After his fieldwork, he returned to Canada to practice family medicine and
received his MSc in Public and Population Health. Dr. Lambo’s academic career has taken him through several institutions across continents, including teaching at the graduate level at the University of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Dr. Lambo is passionate and committed to teaching medical students to achieve their career aspirations. He uses innovative teaching methods through in-class assignments, small group discussion, active learning opportunities and student presentations on real life problems. His goal is to engage students in the contents of his courses by calling them by
name, properly preparing them for what’s to come and using strategies, such as think-pair-share and exit slips. Dr. Lambo also shows great interest and enthusiasm for improving his pedagogy, and he welcomes students to collaborate with him on his research projects.
